The National Democratic Institute for International Affairs (NDI) in The Gambia seeks a ProgramAssistant to support its ongoing work in strengthening governance, elections, political parties, and civic participation programming in the Gambia.

Programme Management |
Works directly with the Program Team under direct supervision from the Program Officer and the Senior Resident Director
Under supervision, creates initial drafts of budgets for program activities;
Under supervision, creates or makes substantial contributions to drafts of program reports, administrative memos, proposals, concept papers, program updates, work plans, letters etc.;
Assist in organizing conferences, workshops and meetings
Take notes in trainings, conferences, workshops and meetings;
Develop sign in sheets and program evaluation forms for events;
Keep program information and records:
Track program impacts on stakeholders and supports in program monitoring and evaluation;
Collect data and program information from the field in accordance with program proposals, work plans, performance monitoring plans;
Attending and reporting back to the team on selected internal meetings and external events;
Fulfill other program duties as assigned by supervisors. |
Program Impact |
Regular analysis of political, economic and security developments that may have significant impacts on the project;
Assist team members in responding to requests for information regarding NDI’s civic programs;
Conduct research projects on specific aspects of NDI’s programs in the Gambia. |
Administrative
and Logistics |
Develop initial design for program agenda and provide resource materials for workshop participants;
Deliver correspondence to partners for programs;
Provide administrative support and programmatic input into proposal process and contributes to strategic discussions;
Provide needed information materials for workshop participants instantly and coordinate the workshop secretariat;
Assist with administrative tasks such as scanning, photocopying and filing;
Scan newspaper and policy documents on issues that may impact program;
Schedule and coordinate meetings, events, interviews, appointments, and/or other similar activities for supervisors, which may include coordinating travels and lodging arrangements.
Provide other duties on research and program improvement as assigned by your supervisors. |
Qualifications/ Experience |
Education:
Bachelor's Degree, preferably in political science, government or law, social sciences or a related field; in a recognized and accredited institution. graduate degree preferred
Experience:
At least one-year work experience in the development sector as a Program Assistant or an intern.
Working knowledge of PC-based word processing and spreadsheet applications;
Experience with the Google Apps suite (Gmail, Calendar, Google Drive, G+, etc.) is strongly desired;
Ability and willingness to travel to locations which may be remote and difficult to reach. |
Salary for this position is commensurate with experience and NDI’s salary scale. In addition to the salary, benefits such as healthcare, transportation, and communication allowances will be provided.
